Billboard Music Awards 2021 anuncia prêmios; The Weeknd é grande vencedor

Hoje é dia de "Billboard Music Awards 2021"! Os primeiros vencedores foram divulgados no início da tarde de hoje. Já os prêmios principais foram distribuídos ao vivo na TNT. The Weeknd, que é recordista de indicações e concorreu em 16 categorias, arrebatou dez prêmios - incluindo melhor artista, prêmio principal da noite.

Prêmios como de artista Top Hot 100 - The Weeknd - e Melhor Cantora Country - Gabby Barrett - foram anunciados ao vivo direto do Microsoft Theater, em Los Angeles. O prêmio de Top música de rap ficou com a música Rockstar de DaBaby e o prêmio Top artista Latino foi oferecido a Bad Bunny.

O evento está sendo apresentado por Nick Jonas e outros artistas, e contou com apresentações de BTS com sua nova música, "Butter", Doja Cat e SZA, com "Kiss Me More", Jonas Brothers ao lado do DJ Marshmello e P!nk, que foi homenageada. Os grupos BTS, Pink, AJR e Twenty One Pilots já se apresentaram durante a premiação. O último show foi apresentado pelos Jonas Brothers.

O rapper canadense Drake ganhou o prêmio de artista da década, e subiu no palco da companhia de seu filho, seu pai e sua equipe. "Eu não fiz um discurso de vitória sobre como fazer acontecer ou como foi chegar até aqui porque, para ser sincero, eu mesmo não entendo muito bem como isso aconteceu. Eu só sei que passei incalculáveis horas analisando todas as coisas que eu fiz que deram errado, mas hoje eu vejo que fiz alguma coisa certa", disse Drake.

O rapper Pop Smoke, morto a tiros em sua casa em fevereiro de 2020, recebeu o prêmio póstumo de Melhor Álbum Billboard 200. A mãe do artista recebeu o troféu e agradeceu pela homenagem ao seu "jovem guerreiro". Ele já havia sido premiado como melhor artista iniciante.

Michelle Obama introduziu Alicia Keys e rendeu elogios à cantora, afirmando que ela a inspira. "Alicia, você é uma luz brilhante, uma força singular, você inspira a mim, minhas filhas e milhares de fãs ao redor do mundo", disse a ex-primeira dama dos Estados Unidos.

Pink recebeu o "Billboard Icon Award" por sua carreira, a décima artista a receber o prêmio, e a mais jovem até o momento. A cantora recebeu o troféu das mãos de Jon Bon Jovi e provocou o artista, revelando um crush no cantor. "Eu tenho que te dizer, eu não saí do meu quarto por uma semana quando você casou com a Dorothea", brincou.

O prêmio principal, de melhor artista, tinha dois mortos entre os finalistas - o rapper Juice WRLD e o também rapper Pop Smoke. A premiação ficou com The Weeknd, que acabou com dez prêmios.
